Experiential Learning
Golden High School has a long history of rich experiential learning. Senior Seminar and the junior rafting trip have been long-standing traditions since the ‘60s and ‘70s when GHS faculty realized there was a need to engage with students outside the traditional classroom.
Junior Rafting
Junior rafting has been around since 1979 when staff thought that a camping and rafting trip would be a great way to introduce students to the outdoors and build relationships with staff leading up to their senior year. It has been ongoing ever since.
Students go with trained faculty and staff as well as a rafting guide on a multi-day rafting trip down a river in the West. Each year the students return with great stories, new friends and a new perspective on learning.

Senior Seminar
In their last semester of high school, students can opt to join a class of 26 students and leave the traditional school routine for an immersive learning experience.
The goal of Senior Seminar is to integrate the prior 12 years of learning and promote self-examination around the topics of personal goals, institutions, the universe and our human nature.
