Commencement Participation
To participate in the Commencement Ceremony, you must e-sign the graduation contract. It is the responsibility of the students to sign the contract. Students must be logged into their Jeffco google account to sign the contract.
- The due date to submit the contract is March 31, 3:30 PM.
- If you miss this deadline, you will still need to sign the contract to walk. You will not be able to select a teacher to hand you your diploma. Note: "I'm on the senior sem trip" is not a valid excuse for late submission.
- There will be NO CHANGES in teacher selection after deadline.
- By signing the graduation contract, you agreed to the following:
Commencement is a formal and dignified ceremony honoring our graduates, their families, and our staff. Participation is a privilege. To ensure a respectful and seamless event, all seniors must agree to the following terms to participate in the ceremony and receive a Golden High School diploma.
1. Academic Requirements & Deadlines
I confirm that I will satisfy all academic requirements of Jefferson County Schools and Golden High School.
- Credit Completion: All credits must be finalized to walk in the ceremony.
- External Credits: Transcripts from outside institutions (BYU, Mines, etc.) must be received by May 1.
- Credit Recovery: All recovery courses must be 100% complete by May 1.
2. Mandatory Rehearsal & Logistics
- Rehearsal: I will attend the mandatory graduation practice at Mines Stadium on May 21, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
- Cap & Gown Distribution: Provided my check-out sheet is complete, I will pick up my regalia on May 21, between 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
3. Financial Obligations
I agree to settle all outstanding debts (textbooks, library fees, equipment, course fees, parking fines, etc.) and return all school-owned materials prior to the graduation rehearsal.
4. Graduation Attire & Approved Regalia
- Authorized Regalia: I will wear only the authorized cap, gown, and tassels provided for the ceremony.
- Sashes, Leis, & Accessories: I understand that no outside sashes, stoles, or leis (flower, candy, money, etc.) may be worn during the ceremony. Only school-provided sashes and regalia distributed at the time of checkout are permitted.
- Honor Cords & Medals: Only school-issued honor cords and medals may be worn. Non-school issued items are prohibited.
- Cap Decorations: I understand that cap decorations are permitted provided they remain strictly 2-D (flat) and school-appropriate. Decorations may not add height or hang off the sides of the cap.
- Compliance: Any unauthorized items (including inappropriate caps or non-approved sashes/leis) must be removed before the processional. If a cap is deemed inappropriate, I understand I will be required to purchase a new replacement cap on-site to participate.
5. Conduct & Senior Pranks
- Standard of Conduct: I will adhere to the Student Code of Conduct through graduation day. Serious violations or poor attendance will result in exclusion from senior activities and/or the ceremony.
- Senior Pranks: GHS does not condone senior pranks. Any student involved in such activities will forfeit their right to participate in all graduation-related events.
6. Ceremony Decorum & Substance Policy
- Behavior: I agree to remain courteous throughout the ceremony. I will not engage in any act that disrupts the event, calls unnecessary attention to myself, or causes embarrassment to the Class of 2026.
- Controlled Substances: I will abide by the Board of Education Policy regarding alcohol and narcotics. Possession or consumption of any controlled substance before or during the ceremony will result in immediate removal.
7. Inclement Weather Plan
I understand that in the event of forecasted inclement weather, the ceremony may be moved to the GHS Gymnasium. This decision is made by administration 1–2 days prior and will limit each graduate to two (2) guests due to capacity.
