Choice Enrollment Priority

Prioritizing Choice Enrollment Applicants

Please note: Students moving from middle school to high school must submit a new choice enrollment application. Being accepted via choice enrollment into a middle school does not guarantee entry into the high school that the middle school feeds into.

Determining space availability

Space availability shall be determined by the school leader, utilizing current school information about district class size guidelines, enrollment projects, projected rate of current students, anticipated attrition, and specific program availability.

Applicants will be prioritized as follows:

  1. Students who reside in Jefferson County AND have a sibling who is currently attending the school, and the sibling will attend that school the following year.
  2. Students who reside in Jefferson County AND are the child of a full-time staff member at the school for which enrollment is sought.
  3. Students who reside in Jefferson County AND are currently attending a designated neighborhood school which feeds into the school for which choice enrollment is sought.
  4. Students who reside in Jefferson County.
  5. Students who do not reside in Jefferson County BUT have a sibling who is currently attending the desired school and will attend that school the following year.
  6. Students who do not reside in Jefferson County BUT are a child of a full-time staff member at the school for which enrollment is sought.
  7. Students who do not reside in Jefferson County BUT are attending a designated neighborhood school which feeds into the school for which choice enrollment is sought.
  8. Students who do not reside in Jefferson County.
