Attendance

At Golden High School, we know that regular attendance and punctuality are foundational to our students' success. Developing these behaviors not only contribute to success in school, but they are critical components of lifelong learning and career development.

We ask that students arrive on time and are ready to engage in the learning process. The classroom experience is unique, and while making up work is important, it cannot fully replicate the value of being present for instruction, classroom collaboration, and community building.

Our families are essential partners in prioritizing attendance. Please ensure your student attends school and let us know about any legitimate absences, such as illness or family emergency. Familiarize yourself with our Attendance Policy as outlined in our Student and Family Handbook linked below, and reach out to your grade level counselor or administrator with any questions.

Report an Absence, Early Release, or Late Arrival

Log into Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Click the Menu icon in the upper left corner (the three lines)
Select More
Click Absence Request and fill out the form
Click SUBMIT (located at the bottom of the page)

For Early Release Requests, please complete the request as early in the day as possible, with at least 2 hours prior notice to allow time for us to pull your student from class.

For ALL medical and dental appointments, families MUST provide a doctor note to excuse these absences. This can be emailed to Elizabeth Dehm or your student can drop it off at the attendance window when they return from their appointment.

Eighteen-year-old students may not excuse their own absences if they are still considered dependents of their parent or guardian.

Athletic Dismissals

GHS Coaches will let the Attendance Office know in advance when student athletes need to be excused for an athletic event.

Students who participate in athletics for a team at another Jeffco school (such as gymnastics, field hockey, or ski team) will need their parent or guardian to report the absence to excuse the activity.

If a student is missing a full day for a club sport or traveling, the Pre-Arranged Absence Form must be filled out in advance.

Warren Tech Attendance

Parents or guardians of students who are dual-enrolled at Warren Tech (WT) will need to contact WT with any attendance issues. If you receive an attendance call from GHS for a time when your student is scheduled at WT, please contact WT to clear it up. WT tags the home high school on their attendance calls.

Attendance in Jeffco

The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.

It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
